Adam Drybrough has worked with land owners throughout the Calgary region as a development and business strategy consultant for nearly eight years. In 2015, The Canadian Encyclopedia celebrated its 30th anniversary with 30 lists of national interest. Among these lists were the 30 Top Selling Canadian Albums in Canada. The list was comprised solely of Canadian-born artists, though sales outside of Canada were taken into consideration.
The list was topped by Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, one of the best selling albums of all time. An Ottawa native, Morissette released her third album in 1995. Though she had experienced musical success and popularity from a very young age, few could have predicted what would follow. Jagged Little Pill sold 33 million copies around the world, including 2 million units in Canada, and received a host of Grammy awards, highlighted by the 1996 Grammy for Album of the Year.
Morissette was far from the only female on the list of 30 Top Selling Canadian Albums, as Shania Twain took the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 positions with albums released between 1995 and 2002. Celine Dion occupied seven places on the list, more than any other artist, while other female Canadian artists included Avril Lavigne and Diana Krall. Brian Adams led male Canadian musicians with his 1984 album Reckless at No. 5 and Waking up the Neighbours, released in 1991, coming in at No. 6. Other popular Canadian musical acts on the list included Barenaked Ladies, Tom Cochrane, and Michael Bublé.
